We were commissioned by British Waterways to work with a local primary school in Saltley to develop ideas for the nearby canalside. One of the issues that participants discussed was the lack of seating. As a result designs were evolved using oak lock beams salvaged from British Waterways so that they could be carved by children and residents to form an arrangement of seats located on the towpath.
