Wards : Ensuites, Entrances, Dining Rooms

and super graphics

An important design principle established very early on was the intention that the designs should help to personalise the ward spaces and give each ward a distinctive identity. We also looked closely at existing wards and how they were organised.

One key element that we took away from this process was the way in which some wards used bands of colours to frame individual bedroom doors particularly for the ASD spectrum patients. We used this as a starting point to develop unique designs that gave each ward a distinct identity with a name such as Acorn (relating to the the overall natural theme) which in turn dictated the use of the relevant graphic which was then deployed at the ward entrance off the main circulation, the bedroom ensuites, staff base manifestation and the dining room wall coverings.
