Industrial spoil from the world famous Chance's Factory found on the site during excavations will be used to fill the gabian column with glass lumps.

Tool outlines produced by pupils which relate to the heritage of making in the area will be laser cut on the steel panels.

Pattern outlines produced by pupils which relate to the cultural aspects of the Smethwick coimmunity will be laser cut on the steel panels.

Raised steel lettered quotations which relate to the history and ethos of the school will run around the largest column.

Stainless steel shrouds or cowls will be used as a subtle reference to the lighthouse manufacture by Chance's Factory and the factory chimneys found all around the area. Each will house a light which will emit beams of light at night.

Lighting will be installed into the bases to create glowing columns at night.
