Installation complete

The Oldbury Collaborans sculpture was finally installed today without any issues. Previously snowfall and ice had resulted in postponement till the weather cleared. It provides a significant feature representing the values of the academy standing outside the new building.

The sculpture is made from 316 Grade stainless steel and has a beautiful bead blasted finish. Running around the plinth is a quotation provided by the school which reads;

"The quality of life is dictated by the strength of our education.By opening the door to knowledge we open the door to life and by learning together today we shall lead tomorrow"

The team from Interserve did an inspection today at Form Fabrications to look at progress and see the water feature running. The Tree fins have been bead blasted and returned to the fabricator to be attached to the top stem sections. The whole structure will then be transported to the bead blasters for final finishing.

All the elements are now assembled into 3 sections. The top 'leaf' elements will go to be bead blasted before being joined to the main stems. Photos also show the sump/ drainage assembly but without the stainless steel sphere.
