Redditch Matters
The Redditch Bus shelter projects are part of a community safety programme designed to refurbish existing bus shelters with artwork produced by young people. The programme is supported by the Redditch Community Safety Partnership.
The idea to make a feature of local bus shelters was the brainchild of Cllr Juliet Brunner, Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety. Two similar shelters were installed at the Matchborough Centre last year.
A semi-transparent reproduction of the artwork was inserted between sheets of clear polycarbonate to provide a stained glass effect.
Redditch Borough Council Community Safety Project Officer, Peter Hill, who has co-ordinated the bus shelter projects said,
We are leading the way having conceived this innovative approach to enhancing and protecting local bus shelters. What we have created is unique – urban stained glass for the 21st Century
