Stacks construction

The Stacks features consisted of gabian cages constructed  by metal artist Tim Tolkien, carved oak blocks by woodcarver Graham Jones and cast panels by Eric Klein Velderman from work produced by pupils.

The selection and arrangement of cobbles was used to define the following:

  1. -White cobbles for communities dreams and aspirations

  2. -Raspberry cobbles for the life blood of the community

  3. -Black cobbles for the coal mining history

The metal gabians contain the coobles and echo the exterior finishes of the building whilst the green carved oak was used to make reference to the oak forests that existed on the Chase.
