The mosaic feature used two techniques : pebble mosaic applied directly into cement for the outer ring and glass tessara mosaic artworks made with pupils and applied indirectly into wet cement grout. Black and white cobbles were selected for the pebble mosaic. The black cobbles were positioned to create a shaded effect when seen from above. The centre of the feature has a tube embeeed into the cement so that the school can use it for maypole dancing. The maypole itself will be an additional art commission at a later date.
